New NHIF Rates


National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) is a state-owned parastatal under the Ministry Of Health with a mandate to provide accessible and affordable social health insurance.
The NHIF Membership is open to all Kenyans who have attained the age of 18yrs and a monthly income of more than KSh1,000. NHIF members pay a monthly premium rate for every month and covered for health expenditures in public hospitals. In line with the Government’s commitment to the attainment of Universal Health Coverage, NHIF is out to cover members with both in-patient and out-patient cover.

  • General Consultation
  • Diagnostics and treatment of common ailments
  • Prescribed laboratory and X-ray investigation services
  • Prescribed drugs administration and dispensing
  • Management of chronic ailments (HIV/AIDS, Diabetes, Asthma, Hypertension, Cancer)
  • Health and wellness education/healthcare counseling such as screening for conditions e.g. Cervical and Prostate Cancer
  • Treatment of Sexually Transmitted Diseases
  • Minor surgical services
  • Family planning/midwifery/ante/post-natal services
  • Referral for specialized services
  • Renal dialysis

  • Physician’s surgeon’s, anesthetics’ or physiotherapist’s fess

NHIF Maternity Cover
  • Consultation and treatment for both mother and child
  • Child birth including caesarian section deliveries
